Lot 284: A PAIR OF RUSSIAN PORCELAIN BOWLS IN THE STYLE OF THE GARDNER MANUFACTORY.
A pair of small, circular porcelain bowls, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The exterior of each bowl is decorated with a deep cobalt blue glaze. To the centre of each bowl is a large, oval reserve with a white ground, enclosed within a thin gilded border. Within each reserve is a hand-painted floral spray consisting of a large pink flower, a smaller brownish-red flower, and several tiny red blossoms, accompanied by green and greyish-green leaves. The variation in the hand-painted floral arrangements indicates individual brushwork. Both bowls feature a plain white interior and a raised foot rim.
Condition report:
Both bowls appear to be in good overall condition. There is visible wear to the gilding on the rims and the borders of the reserves. Minor surface scratches and firing irregularities are present in the cobalt glaze. No visible chips, cracks, or repairs.
