This watercolour miniature painting on paper depicts a royal equestrian procession in the Rajasthani style, likely from the Jodhpur or Mewar school. The central figure is a bearded nobleman or ruler mounted on a grey horse. The rider is dressed in a white jama with a patterned sash, wearing an elaborate turban adorned with jewellery and a plume, and holding a ceremonial fly-whisk. The horse is depicted with pink and red decorative trappings, including a patterned saddlecloth and breastplate. The ruler is accompanied by five attendants on foot, all bearded and wearing turbans. They carry various ceremonial objects, including fly-whisks and a mace. The composition is set against a solid, vibrant yellow background with a stylized green foreground representing grass. The work is framed by a thin blue and yellow inner border and a broad red outer border.

Approximately 33.6 x 24.5cm

Condition report:

The painting remains in a good state of preservation with the pigments appearing bright and well-saturated. There is minor creasing to the paper, particularly visible in the upper corners. The broad red border shows light wear and minor scuffing along the edges. No significant fading, foxing, or water damage is apparent.
