A Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Tripod Censer, 20th Century.
Of compressed globular form, the body decorated in vibrant cloisonné enamels against a pale turquoise ground with an intricate key-fret diaper pattern. The exterior features large blossoming peony flowers in tones of deep blue, red, pink and yellow, interspersed with leafy green foliage.
The vessel is raised on three gilt-bronze zoomorphic feet modelled as stylised beast heads, each with detailed facial features and curved legs. Matching gilt-bronze lion-mask handles with loose rings are applied to the shoulders.
The short cylindrical neck is encircled by a band of purple enamel dots beneath a gilt rim decorated with a continuous geometric key motif in red on a gold ground.
