A Chinese Celadon-Glazed Model of a Recumbent Frog.
Modelled naturalistically in a crouching position with forelegs extended and hind legs tucked beneath the body, the frog covered in a smooth celadon glaze of soft turquoise tone with subtle tonal variations throughout.
The eyes are slightly raised and picked out in brown and black enamel, giving the figure a lively expression. The surface displays gentle pooling of glaze around the contours of the body, accentuating the sculptural form.
