A Chinese Carved Jade Belt Buckle with Mythical Beast Mask.
Finely carved from a mottled brown and celadon jade of natural variegation, the buckle formed as a stylised mythical beast mask with prominent rounded eyes, flared nostrils, and open mouth revealing incised teeth and fangs. The brow detailed with scrolling motifs and raised horn-like projections, the carving deeply worked to emphasise facial contours and expression.
The reverse with a gently curved form and integral attachment bar, the stone displaying areas of creamy translucency and russet inclusions throughout.
