A Very Large Chinese Famille Rose Jardinière with Figural Panels, 20th Century.
A very large Chinese porcelain jardinière of rounded form with a broad everted rim, richly decorated in famille rose enamels with extensive gilt detailing. The exterior is densely ornamented with floral scrolls, butterflies, fruit, and auspicious objects reserved against a deep ground, interspersed with shaped cartouches.
One principal panel depicts an elegant garden scene with finely dressed female figures gathered around a table within a landscaped setting of terraces, trees, and a pavilion. Another large panel features birds perched among flowering branches, surrounded by butterflies and blossoming plants. The upper border is decorated with alternating floral reserves and auspicious motifs.
The interior is painted with swimming goldfish and aquatic plants against a pale ground. The base bears a red seal mark to the underside.
