A Chinese Bronze Model of a Mythical Guardian Beast.
Cast in bronze as a compact crouching mythical beast, the figure is shown resting on all four legs with a strongly modelled body covered in dense, scale-like detailing. The head is large and expressive, with prominent horns, bulging eyes, a broad snout, and curling whisker-like features framing the mouth. Flowing, deeply incised scrollwork forms the mane, extending down the neck and along the spine, while the tail curls tightly around the rear.
