The obverse is decorated in low relief and incised lines with a symmetrical zoomorphic mask, commonly referred to as a taotie. The central design features prominent square-framed eyes containing internal C-scrolls, flanked by scrolling motifs suggesting stylised facial features. The overall form is characterised by a pointed apex, stepped and notched lateral edges, and a slightly tapering base. The reverse is flat and undecorated, showing a heavily weathered surface with significant areas of white mineral alteration and calcification.
Approximately 5.5 x 4.4cm
Condition report:
The obverse shows minor surface wear and fine scratching consistent with age and handling. Small, scattered chips and nibbles are visible along the outer edges and within the notched sections.
