An articulated bronze sculpture of a centipede, classified as a jizai okimono, dating from the late Meiji period or early 20th century. The figure is composed of approximately twenty overlapping segments, joined to enable fluid, lifelike movement. The anatomy includes a pair of long, jointed antennae at the head and a pair of terminal cerci at the rear. Each segment of the body is equipped with a pair of jointed legs. The sculpture possesses a uniform, dark brown patinated finish throughout. An incised two-character signature for the Myochin school is located on the underside of the head.

L: Approximately 15.5cm

Condition report:

The piece remains in overall good condition with the articulated segments and limbs functioning as intended. The dark patina is even and well-preserved across the body and legs. There is minor accumulation of surface dust and light oxidation in the recessed areas, consistent with the age of the item.
