An Indian folk painting rendered in gouache or tempera on paper, depicting the Hindu goddess Parvati with the infant Ganesha. The work is executed in a regional style characterised by bold outlines and flat areas of saturated colour. Parvati is shown seated in profile, wearing a blue sari with white dotted decoration and a yellow blouse, complemented by tiered gold-tone jewellery. She holds the four-armed infant Ganesha, who is depicted with an orange body and an elephant head, wearing a white garment. The background consists of a solid red field framed at the top by a stylised yellow and green scalloped canopy, with the figures situated on a yellow ground. The lower right corner features an inscription in black ink reading Bharat above the numeral 2.

Condition report:
Generally good condition with bright colours. There is minor wear to the paper edges and two small puncture marks at the top centre likely from previous mounting. Some light surface marks are present on the yellow ground.
