Lot 349: A CHINESE WHITE METAL LIDDED DRAGON JAR.
A finely worked Chinese white metal lidded jar of baluster form, likely produced during the late 19th or early 20th century. The body is elaborately decorated in high-relief repoussé and chasing, featuring two five-clawed imperial dragons (long) amidst a dense ground of ruyi-head clouds. One dragon is depicted in a frontal position above a flaming pearl. The lower register is encircled by a haishui jiangya pattern of crashing waves and stylised mountain peaks. The domed lid, topped with a bud-shaped finial, continues the dragon and cloud motif. The underside of the base bears an impressed six-character seal mark reading Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi (大清乾隆年製).
H: Approximately 16.5cm
Condition report:
The jar is presented in very good condition, exhibiting a natural aged patina throughout. There are no visible dents, losses, or repairs to the intricate metalwork. The lid is original and fits securely.
