A South Indian cast bronze religious figurine, likely depicting a form of the goddess Devi, such as Parvati or Meenakshi. The deity is portrayed four-armed, seated in lalitasana on a tiered rectangular pedestal. Her lower right hand is held in abhaya mudra, the gesture of protection, while her upper left hand holds a parrot, an attribute frequently associated with South Indian goddesses. She wears a conical karanda mukuta crown and traditional jewellery. The robust, simplified proportions are characteristic of village or domestic shrine bronzes from Tamil Nadu or Karnataka.
H: Approximately 11cm
Condition report:
The figure is in fair to good condition, showing extensive surface wear and softening of features consistent with its age and ritual history. There is significant natural green verdigris and surface encrustation across the body and base. The casting remains structurally sound with no visible repairs or major damage.
