This oil on canvas painting by the celebrated Moroccan artist Hassan el Glaoui depicts a Tbourida, a traditional exhibition of horsemanship also known as a Fantasia. The composition features a dense and dynamic group of riders clad in white burnouses atop horses of various colours, including bay, black, and grey. The work is executed in the artist’s signature modernist style, using fluid, calligraphic line work to convey a sense of rapid movement and energy. The background is rendered in nebulous, multi-toned green washes, providing an atmospheric backdrop that emphasises the equestrian figures.
