Lot 159: AN ISLAMIC SILVER SIGNET RING SET WITH AN ENGRAVED TURQUOISE CABOCHON.
A silver signet ring, the mount featuring a split shoulder design tapering to a plain band. The ring is set with an oval turquoise cabochon within a serrated pie-crust bezel. The gemstone features natural matrix veins and is hand-engraved with Arabic calligraphy in Nasta’liq script. The central inscription includes the word Allah at the top, followed by stylized religious invocations. The style and construction are characteristic of Middle Eastern talismanic jewellery craftsmanship from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Condition report:
The ring is in good vintage condition. The turquoise cabochon shows a fine hairline crack running vertically through the lower right quadrant, visible in the primary face-on photograph. The silver mount displays natural oxidation and patina, particularly within the recessed areas of the engraving and the serrated bezel. Minor surface scratches consistent with age and light wear are visible across the band.
