An Indian Tantric Painting of a Coiled Serpent in Deep Blue Pigment, 20th Century.
The composition depicts a powerful serpent shown in a dynamic coiled posture, its body looping across the surface in rhythmic curves. The snake is rendered in a rich, saturated blue, densely patterned with dark mottled markings that animate the form and create a strong visual contrast against the natural beige paper ground. The head is raised and turned to the side, with the mouth open to reveal sharp fangs and a slender, extended tongue, lending the figure a sense of alertness and latent energy. Fine black outlining defines the contours of the body, emphasizing the sinuous movement and controlled symmetry of the coils.
