A Chinese Archaistic Style Carved Libation Cup.
The vessel is formed with a flaring, irregularly contoured rim above a tapering body, standing on a short, stepped foot. The exterior is richly carved in relief with archaistic taotie-style mask motifs and scrolling elements, arranged in horizontal registers around the body. One side is fitted with a vertical handle sculpted as a stylised creature head, its features projecting prominently from the rim and descending down the side.
