A Glazed Ceramic King Chess Piece, Possibly Medieval 12th–13th Century.
A glazed ceramic chess piece finely modelled as a seated king, shown wearing a crown and long robe, his hands clasped around a horizontal sceptre across his chest. The figure is rendered in deep turquoise-blue glaze with areas of earthen accretion, the face sharply defined with a long beard and expressive eyes.
