A Khorasan Bronze Ewer with Engraved Foliate and Calligraphic Bands, 12th–13th Century.
A finely engraved Khorasan bronze ewer of rounded cylindrical form, rising to a tall, narrow neck surmounted by a bold, beaked spout. The surface displays an extensive arrangement of decorative bands, including flowing calligraphic panels encircling the shoulder and lid, interspersed with medallions and foliate motifs. The body features lightly incised figural and geometric designs, while the handle, of elegant arching form, attaches neatly to the neck and upper body. The domed lid is adorned with radiating engraved motifs, complementing the dense calligraphic frieze beneath.
