A Qajar Copper-Brass Shield with Openwork Panels, 19th Century.
A circular Qajar-period shield crafted from copper-brass alloy, featuring four raised domed bosses arranged around a central pierced medallion. Additional openwork medallions—each formed of densely interlaced geometric floral motifs—are distributed across the surface. The field is richly engraved with lively hunting scenes including riders, animals, and scrolling vegetal patterns. The wide outer border encircling the shield is filled with continuous engraved calligraphic bands and poetic verses, framed by repeating floral cartouches.
