A Chinese Rock Crystal Phallic Figure, Possibly 18th Century.
Carved from translucent rock crystal with natural cloudy inclusions and colour gradations from pale amber to a deeper reddish-orange at the base. The figure is sculpted in an explicitly phallic form, with a smooth tapering shaft and rounded detailing at the base, the polished surfaces accentuating the natural variations of the stone. Such pieces are often associated with fertility symbolism and may have served a ritual or talismanic function.
L: Approximately 17.5cm
Provenance: Private collection from a distinguished W London collector.
