An Indian Islamic Brass Helmet Inlaid with Silver, Featuring a Bird-Form Finial.
A striking Indian Islamic helmet crafted from brass and richly inlaid with silver, distinguished by a tall bird-form finial modelled as a stylized peacock or goose. The dome is adorned with intricate scrolling floral and geometric motifs in silver damascening, encircling the head with bands of interlacing patterns. A band of pierced steel panels suspends around the brow, articulated into triangular, diamond, and lobed shapes with pierced arabesques. The helmet’s raised neck guard features a central cartouche of arabesque scrollwork, flanked by medallions and foliage. A narrow band of Arabic calligraphy encircles the neck of the bird-form finial.
