A Chinese Famille Verte Plate with Carp and Aquatic Motifs, Kangxi Mark.
A Chinese famille verte plate featuring a vibrant central medallion with a large red carp leaping amidst swirling green waves, surrounded by further multi-coloured fish swimming among lotus leaves, blossoms, tendrils, and aquatic plants. The design is finely outlined and filled with rich greens, reds, yellows, and soft enamels characteristic of famille verte decoration.
The reverse shows scattered sprigs of green floral motifs and a neatly written six-character mark in underglaze blue reading “大清康熙年製” (Made in the Kangxi Period of the Great Qing Dynasty).
