A Khorasan Copper-Inlaid Bronze Basin with Kufic Inscriptions, 12th Century.
D: Approximately 17.8cm
Of shallow circular form with slightly flared sides, the basin is finely engraved and inlaid with copper. The interior features a central medallion with a stylised rosette surrounded by bands of Kufic inscriptions and interlaced roundels. The outer rim is encircled with further calligraphic bands alternating with medallions enclosing arabesque motifs.
