An Islamic Bone Carved Lidded Box with Arabic Inscriptions.
The rectangular box, carved from bone and raised on four short feet, features finely pierced and incised panels with Arabic inscriptions framed by scrolling foliage and floral motifs. The lid, similarly carved, fits snugly atop the form and is surmounted by a small rounded finial. The inscriptions are set within medallion-style cartouches, surrounded by borders of diagonal hatch work and palm-leaf designs. Both sides are decorated with matching calligraphic panels, while the ends depict stylised birds among foliage.
