A Chinese Carved Libation Cup, Qianlong Nian Zhi Mark. –
A Chinese carved libation cup. This intricately carved, footed vessel exhibits characteristic striations and a rich, variegated reddish-brown to dark brown patina. The exterior is extensively carved in high relief with a dense composition of mythical creatures, including dragons and smaller chilong, intertwined amidst swirling cloud or wave patterns. The cup stands on a distinct circular foot. The underside of the foot bears a four-character seal mark, "乾隆年製" (Qianlong Nian Zhi), translating to "Made in the Qianlong Reign."
