A Chinese blue and white porcelain ritual water vessel, or kundika. The form is characterised by its bulbous body, an upright filling spout on the shoulder, and a tall neck fitted with a removable cover for pouring. The central body is decorated in underglaze blue with diamond-shaped panels enclosing Sanskrit characters in Lantsa script, set against a ground of dense foliate lingzhi scrolls. The spreading foot is similarly adorned with circular medallions containing further Sanskrit characters. The neck and cover feature various decorative borders, including petal lappets and scrolling motifs. The porcelain body is finished with a transparent, slightly blue-tinted glaze exhibiting a prominent and intentional stained crackle.
