This North Indian miniature painting is executed in watercolour on paper, rendered in the Sikh or Pahari style. The composition depicts a processional scene featuring two haloed noble figures, possibly representing Sikh royalty or religious icons, mounted on blue chargers. Both figures are dressed in ornate tunics—one in pink and the other in orange—with elaborate turbans and golden haloes. The horses are adorned with decorative saddlecloths, large pink pommels, and fine bridles. They are accompanied by two attendants walking behind; one holds a chauri (fly-whisk) and the other carries a morchal (peacock feather whisk). A groom in the foreground, wearing a blue tunic and white turban, leads the horses. The background shows a landscape with a distant fort under a cloudy sky.
Approximately 30.7 x 24.5cm
