Lot 207: A CHINESE LONGQUAN CELADON LOBED BOWL.
A Chinese celadon-glazed stoneware tea bowl of foliate form, attributed to the Longquan kilns of Zhejiang province. The vessel is designed with a deep conical body tapering to a small, slightly flared circular foot. The rim is divided into five distinct lobes by small, neatly cut V-shaped notches. The bowl is covered in a thick, even, and opaque pale sea-green celadon glaze with a soft, satin-like lustre. This profile and glaze quality are consistent with examples produced during the Southern Song (1127–1279) or Yuan (1271–1368) dynasties, specifically resembling the celebrated Bakohan tea bowl.
H: Approximately 7.5cm
D: Approximately 17cm
Provenance: Accompanied by a 1935 Shanghai delivery order issued by Jardine, Matheson & Co., Ltd., referencing a Chinese celadon lobed bowl supplied to Kobayashi Bunshichi Shoten.
Condition report:
The item is in very good condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or significant surface abrasions. The glaze is consistent with no apparent crazing or major firing defects.
