This porcelain dish features a shallow form with a slightly flared rim and is decorated in the fencai palette. The interior displays a vibrant turquoise ground, centred by a medallion containing a five-clawed iron-red dragon in a frontal pose, surrounded by flame scrolls. Four five-clawed green dragons in profile encircle the central figure, set amongst a dense pattern of multicoloured clouds and flames. The rim is finished with a gilt border. The reverse of the dish is white-glazed and decorated with five iron-red bats, a traditional motif known as wufu. The base features an underglaze blue six-character seal mark in archaic seal script (zhuanshu). The mark reads Da Qing Yongzheng Nian Zhi, which translates as Made in the Yongzheng Reign of the Great Qing.
