A framed calligraphic panel (levha) executed in silver-toned pigment on a deep cobalt blue ground. The central text is written in a complex Jali Thuluth script, featuring the Quranic verse "Inna Allāha ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīr" (Indeed, Allah is powerful over all things). The composition is densely layered with interlacing characters typical of Ottoman calligraphic traditions. The blue field is framed by a decorative red border embellished with gold-toned scrolling foliate and floral motifs. Each of the four corners of the main blue field is decorated with silver-toned illuminated floral sprigs.
Approximately 37.7 x 27.5cm
Condition report:
The paper ground exhibits visible undulation and rippling beneath the glass (photo 1). There is surface dust present on the interior of the glass. The wooden frame shows multiple areas of wear and loss to the finish, particularly evident as chipping along the outer edges and at the corners (photo 1). The pigments of the calligraphy and borders remain vibrant. No tears or significant foxing are visible to the paper from the front.
