A circular silver talismanic container, likely intended for a small Quran or prayer scroll. The piece is constructed from a silver-coloured alloy with hand-hammered interior surfaces. The exterior is extensively decorated with hand-engraved and chased calligraphic and foliate designs. The lid features a central calligraphic grid within a circular medallion, surrounded by concentric bands of cursive Arabic script in Naskh or Thuluth style. The outer border of the lid contains four calligraphic cartouches interspersed with scrolling foliate motifs. The vertical sides of the box are engraved with a continuous horizontal band of Arabic inscription. The base is decorated with concentric engraved borders and a central pierced openwork rosette in a stylised floral pattern, possibly intended to allow for the ventilation of incense or scented materials. The box is fitted with a hinged lid, two triangular suspension lugs for attachment to a chain or cord, and a simple peg-style closure.
