A Russian Oil on Canvas Landscape “Болотце” (Bolotse), Signed and Dated 1950.
A mid-20th century Russian oil on canvas landscape titled “Болотце” (“Bolotse” / “Little Marsh”), signed and dated 1950. The composition depicts a tranquil marshland scene with tall reeds and reflective water in the foreground, animated by dark waterfowl gliding across the surface. A spreading tree with fresh green foliage anchors the left side of the composition, while beyond the rolling fields a small church with dome rises gently on the horizon, accompanied by distant figures.
The painting is executed in expressive, confident brushstrokes, with rich earthy tones of ochre, green, and russet contrasted against cooler blues of water and sky. The handling of light and reflection across the marsh creates depth and atmosphere, characteristic of post-war Russian landscape painting.
Signed lower left and inscribed verso in Cyrillic with the artist’s name, date 1950, title “Болотце,” and dimensions 69.5 cm x 79.5 cm.
