A Medieval Rock Crystal Chess Piece, King, in the Style of the Lewis Chessmen, Late 12th/Early 13th Century - A carved, translucent figure depicting a crowned and bearded male bust, identifiable as a King, fashioned from a light amber-hued, semi-transparent rock crystal. This piece is rendered in the distinctive style of the Lewis Chessmen. The material exhibits internal inclusions and natural variations. The stylized carving features a crenellated crown, almond-shaped eyes, and hands clasped in front, consistent with medieval European design influences. Each side of the piece features a distinct square cartouche with an intricately stylized, angular pattern.
