An Indian Miniature Painting of Wrestlers, 19th/20th Century - An Indian miniature painting on paper, depicting two stylized male figures engaged in a wrestling or grappling match against a dark ground. One figure is shown with a red and gold striped loincloth, while the other wears a green and black striped loincloth; both are bare-chested, light-skinned, and bald. The painting is framed by a triple border of thin white and red lines, enclosed within a broader marigold-yellow margin, likely a painted frame or a mounted support. A small inscription in Devanagari script, reading "१८" (eighteen), is visible on the dark ground near the figures' intertwined arms, possibly indicating a folio or inventory number.
Approximately 23 x 17.2cm
Apparent good condition commensurate with age, showing minor surface wear, some scattered speckling on the dark ground, and slight discoloration on the outer margin.
