A Medieval Agate Chess Piece, Possibly 14th Century or Later - A medieval chess piece, carved from agate. The object is conical or bell-shaped, with a stylized animal head, possibly a frog or toad, depicted at its apex, featuring prominent eyes and a ridged forehead. The main body is deeply incised with large, symmetrical spiral or scroll motifs in an upper register, transitioning to a band of repeating arched or trapezoidal geometric designs around the base.



H: Approximately 6cm

Shows considerable wear consistent with age, including surface abrasions and small chips. A prominent vertical crack extends from the top through the stylized head and upper body.
