A Fatimid Rock Crystal Lion Finial, 10-12th Century.

Finely carved from clear rock crystal, this lion figure is depicted in a stylized, almost playful pose, with a robust body, arched back, and defined musculature. The face is incised with pronounced whiskers and almond-shaped eyes, while the mane and tail feature rhythmic, curling motifs. Both the ears and haunches are carved in high relief, creating a sense of volume. A discreet piercing runs through the body near the shoulder, suggesting it may have once been mounted or suspended.

L: Approximately 5.8cm
H: Approximately 4.5cm
