An Indo-Greek Silver Tetradrachm of Hegemon (Eukratides Type), 2nd Century BC
A silver Indo-Greek tetradrachm featuring a finely modelled diademed male bust facing right, with detailed curled hair and strong classical facial features in the Hellenistic style. The portrait is struck in high relief, displaying refined contours and naturalistic expression typical of Greco-Bactrian coinage.
The reverse depicts a standing male deity, nude and rendered in classical form, holding a long sceptre and accompanied by a small animal at his side. Greek inscriptions run along the field within a dotted border, framing the central figure. The surfaces show natural age-related wear consistent with circulation, with clear devices and legible legend remaining.
