A Chinese porcelain plate decorated in overglaze enamels of the famille verte palette. The central medallion depicts a scene of a lady in flowing orange and green robes accompanied by four young boys at play in a garden landscape. The setting features a bridge, pine and bamboo trees, and a crane in flight, set against a finely stippled ground. One boy is depicted holding a lotus-shaped lantern. The cavetto and rim are decorated with an elaborate border of scrolling foliage and large floral blooms in shades of green, iron-red, yellow, and blue, interspersed with stylised ruyi-head motifs. The exterior rim is painted with three simple floral sprays. The base features a six-character mark in underglaze blue arranged in two vertical columns within a double circle. The mark reads Da Qing Kang Xi Nian Zhi, translating to Made during the Kangxi reign of the Great Qing Dynasty.
D: Approximately 22.3cm
Condition report:
The plate is in good structural condition with no cracks or chips evident. There is noticeable brown spotting and staining across the white-glazed sections of the interior, likely resulting from kiln impurities or age-related surface wear. Some minor rubbing is present on the enamels and along the brown-glazed rim.
