This archaistic carving is fashioned from a solid block of turquoise, depicting a recumbent mythical creature, likely a bixie or pixiu. The beast is rendered with a single horn, bulging eyes, and an open mouth revealing bared teeth. Its feline-like body features stylised scrolls at the haunches and well-defined paws tucked beneath the torso. The turquoise material displays a vibrant range of sky-blue to sea-green hues, heavily permeated with a dark brown and black matrix characteristic of the stone.
L: Approximately 5.5cm
Condition report:
The figurine is in overall good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or professional restorations. Natural matrix lines and surface pitting are present throughout, which are inherent to the turquoise stone and do not constitute damage.
