Lot 383: A JAPANESE BRONZE MODEL OF A PUG.
A finely cast Japanese bronze model of a standing Pug, naturalistically modelled with a compact, muscular body, characteristic wrinkled face, folded ears and tightly curled tail.
The surface finely worked throughout with detailed incised lines to reproduce the animal’s short coat, with particular attention paid to the folds of the face and neck, paws and facial expression. The figure stands alert on all four legs and is finished with a rich brown patination.
