An Islamic signet ring featuring an oval carnelian agate gemstone set within a silver mount. The gemstone is carved as an intaglio with calligraphic script in Nasta’liq or Shikasteh style, with the characters filled with a white substance to highlight the inscription. The central engraving contains characters reading سليمان (Suleiman) and علي (Ali). To the left of the script is an engraved decorative starburst rosette symbol. At the bottom edge of the stone, there are smaller characters, possibly a signature, reading partially as یغما (Yaghma) or similar, though not fully legible. The silver setting features a serrated pie-crust bezel with multiple individual prongs holding the stone. The shoulders of the ring are decorated with foliate or scrollwork chasing.

Condition report:

The carnelian gemstone shows minor surface abrasions consistent with age and wear (photo 1). The white infill in the engraving is largely intact but shows slight darkening and minor losses within the deeper recesses (photo 1). The metal mount shows a dark patina and oxidation, particularly around the prongs and in the recessed areas of the chasing (photo 1). There is visible wear and slight distortion to the shank of the ring (photo 1).
