An Indian miniature painting executed in opaque watercolour and gouache on paper, attributed to the Pahari School, Kangra. The composition depicts a formal courtly scene featuring four figures. A central figure of high status, likely a Raja, is seated against a large red bolster, holding a small pink flower in his right hand. He is dressed in white robes with a red turban and green sash. Standing behind him is an attendant dressed in white and red, holding a ceremonial fly-whisk or fan. Facing the Raja are two seated courtiers in white robes; the figure in the centre presents a long scroll or document. A curved talwar sword in a red scabbard lies on the ground in the foreground. The scene is enclosed within a simple red-lined border.
Approximately 31 x 25.5cm
