A Chinese blue and white porcelain garlic-head vase, known as a suantouping. The vessel features a compressed globular body rising to a tall neck terminating in a bulbous mouth. The exterior is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue. The mouth is inscribed with a band of Tibetan Lantsa (Ranjana) script. On the neck, a horizontal four-character mark in underglaze blue reads 正德年製 (Zhengde nian zhi), which translates to ‘Made in the Zhengde reign’. The neck is further decorated with stylised floral motifs, diamond patterns, and bands of ruyi-heads. The shoulder is encircled by a geometric key-fret border. The main body displays three circular medallions containing Arabic calligraphy, set against a ground of dense scrolling lotus vines. The lower body and foot are decorated with stylised wave or petal motifs.

Condition report:
The vase is in good overall condition. Visible kiln grit and minor iron spots are present in the glaze from the original firing process. There is minor surface wear and some pitting consistent with age. The unglazed base shows significant staining and characteristic oxidation. No cracks, chips, or signs of professional restoration are visible in the provided images.
