This Indian devotional painting, executed in gouache and ink on paper, depicts the Hindu deity Hanuman in a dynamic, striding pose. Hanuman is portrayed carrying Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana upon his shoulders. He holds the Dronagiri mountain in his upraised right hand, which is depicted with small temples, lingams, and the Om symbol. In his left hand, he carries a golden mace or gada. A significant iconographic feature of this work is the repetitive use of Devanagari script; the word Rama is inscribed hundreds of times across the background and over the figures themselves, a practice associated with Likhit Japa devotion.
