Of flattened rounded rectangular form, finely carved and polished from white and pale grey banded agate, the natural striations of the stone forming flowing cloud-like patterns across the body. One side is carved in relief with a Buddhist lion (shishi), its features skilfully integrated into the natural banding of the stone.
The bottle with gently rounded shoulders, short cylindrical neck and recessed oval foot, fitted with a domed reddish hardstone stopper with gilt-metal collar. The reverse left largely undecorated to display the attractive natural figuring and concentric banding of the agate.
