Lot 191: A CHINESE ARCHAISTIC CARVED CELADON AND RUSSET JADE BIXIE RING PENDANT.
A Chinese carved nephrite jade ring pendant of circular form, surmounted by an openwork carving of a mythological feline, likely a bixie or tiger. The animal is rendered in a crouching, arched pose with its head turned and musculature defined by shallow incised lines. The stone is of a pale celadon to greyish-white colour, utilising the natural orange-russet skin of the jade pebble along the creature’s back.
Condition report:
Generally good condition. The surface shows expected wear, minor pitting, and some calcification. Natural internal fissures and speckled dark mineral inclusions are visible within the jade. No signs of major breakage or professional restoration.
