A Set Of Three Indian Erotic Paintings Depicting Intimate Couples, Late 19th Century.
The group comprises three paintings, each depicting a couple engaged in intimate poses upon patterned textiles with bolsters. The figures are rendered in a stylised manner, with delicate outlining and soft colouring, including tones of pink, blue, and natural flesh hues.
Each composition presents a different arrangement of figures, with seated and reclining poses, set against a plain ground that emphasises the central subjects. The textiles beneath are decorated with repeating motifs, adding contrast to the otherwise minimal backgrounds.
