A Chinese Stone Buddhist Bodhisattva Stele, Tang Dynasty. –
A grey-green stone Buddhist stele, Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907). The rectangular stele features a high-relief carving of a seated Buddhist figure, likely a Buddha or Bodhisattva, within an arched niche on its front face. The figure is depicted with an ushnisha and urna, performing mudras, characteristic of East Asian Buddhist iconography. The reverse side of the tablet bears incised markings or symbols, which appear to be an ancient script.
Approximately 11.3 x 9 x 3cm (hxlxw)
