A Chinese Sang de Boeuf Glazed Porcelain Stem Cup, Xuande Mark –
A porcelain stem cup featuring a deep, mottled crimson or sang-de-boeuf copper-red glaze on the exterior, which extends down to a neatly defined foot rim. The interior of the bowl is coated in a contrasting pale celadon or light blue-white glaze and decorated with six individual underglaze blue calligraphic characters or symbols spaced around the rim. The hollow interior of the foot bears a six-character underglaze blue mark, which translates to "Made in the Xuande reign of the Great Ming dynasty" (大明宣德年製), suggesting a Ming Dynasty, Xuande period attribution.
