An Islamic Chinese Gilt-Bronze Lidded Box with Arabic Inscription, 18th–19th Century.
A circular Chinese Islamic lidded box of low cylindrical form, the exterior finished in a warm gilt tone over a darker ground. The lid is centred with a bold raised Arabic inscription reading “Allah al-Ḥayy” (الله الحي), meaning “God, the Ever-Living”, set within concentric borders. The surface is decorated with scattered gilt patches creating a mottled, contrasting appearance against the darker field. The sides are plain and gently rounded, continuing the same gilt-on-dark surface treatment.
